Meet Dr. Jeremy Jaskunas

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame (BS Biology, Concentration in Peace Studies), Dr. Jaskunas obtained his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine before completing an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. 

He is now an actively practicing, board-certified Internal Medicine physician with twenty years of clinical experience. For most of his career he has served as a Hospitalist at Meriter-Unity Point Health, a teaching hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. 

Dr. Jaskunas has a reputation for integrity, clinical excellence, and effective communication skills–attributes that have earned him multiple leadership positions. He was the Division Chief and Medical Director of Hospital Medicine at Meriter, where he co-founded the Hospitalist Mentorship Program. He also served as a member of the Meriter Medical Group Board and Vice-Chair of Meriter’s Medical Ethics Committee. Dr. Jaskunas has reviewed hundreds of charts for standard of care through his role as Medical Director and as part of multiple peer-review committees including Meriter’s Peer Review Oversight Committee.  

Dr. Jaskunas’ clinical experience spans the breadth of adult inpatient medicine including sepsis, congestive heart failure, medical emergencies, acute kidney disease, shock, respiratory failure, poly-pharmacy, and pulmonary embolism. Through his leadership positions, Dr. Jaskunas has also developed skills in Hospitalist practice management, quality improvement, and root-cause analysis.

Dr. Jaskunas is regularly sought out by Today’s Hospitalist for comment on issues and dilemmas facing Hospital Medicine. His medical care was also highlighted in a New York Times article about a medical mystery.
